Simon Scharenbroch, 92, a lifelong resident of School Hill died Saturday evening July 21, 2018 at Atrium Post Acute Care, New Holstein. He was born March 5, 1926 in School Hill, son of the late William and Mary (Miller) Scharenbroch. Simon was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving his country during WWII in France. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant during his time in the Army.
On November 26, 1953 he was united in marriage to Betty Ann Gutschow at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, School Hill. Simon worked as an auto mechanic and salesman for Riverside Truck and Auto. He later worked at Prigge Buses for 35 years until his retirement.
Simon was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. In his free time he enjoyed bowling, snowmobiling, fishing and cheering for his Chicago Cubs.
Simon is survived by his siblings; Tony Scharenbroch, Ray (Caroline) Scharenbroch, Bernice (Eugene) Schnell, Betty Mae Owens, sisters-in-law; Collette, Violet and Agnes Scharenbroch, Donna Wirth, brother-in-law; Ernst (Rae) Gutschow along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Betty Ann, his sister; Dorothy (Bernard) Schad, brothers; Bernard, Herb (Bernice), Billy, Alphons and Francis (Ruth) Scharenbroch, sister-in-law; Betty Scharenbroch and brothers-in-law; Terry Owens & Warren Wirth.
Funeral Mass for Simon will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday July 25, 2018 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, School Hill (11928 Marken Rd., Kiel) with Rev. Anthony Ibekwe officiating. Entombment will follow at Knollwood Mausoleum, Manitowoc.
Visitation for family and friends will take place at the church on Wednesday from 9:30am until the time of Mass at 11:00am.
Simon’s family would like to thank Atrium Post Acute Care for taking care of Simon the past five years. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name.
