Authorities in southeastern Wisconsin say a vehicle involved in two police chases hit a pedestrian while trying to get away early Sunday. The driver had fled from a traffic stop in Waukesha County, then, a short time later, the vehicle was spotted in West Allis. The driver again refused to stop — at one point, swerving toward a Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Department squad car. Though there was no impact, a pedestrian was hit when the fleeing car swerved back into its own traffic lane. The West Allis officer stopped to help the pedestrian — who had to be hospitalized for treatment of serious injuries. No names have been released.
