The Sparta School District has moved forward on its 28-million dollar elementary school construction project by purchasing the land. The 26-acre location on Highway 27 gives room for expansion. School district voters approved a referendum in April. School officials say they talked to the city about future growth and traffic flow when choosing a location. Herrman Elementary School will be built on land which was part of the third-generation Herrman Family Farm. Work should start next spring, with students attending class in the fall of 2020.
