The detour on highway 42 in Two Rivers is going to be an issue for longer than originally expected. The department of public works announced late this morning that, while work on the two northbound lanes is nearly complete, the southbound lanes will also have to have the collapsed storm sewer pipes beneath the roadway replaced. Current projections are that the northbound lanes will be reopened by Tuesday, July 31st. Work on the southbound lanes is expected to take until Thursday, August 2nd.
Northbound traffic is being detoured via Columbus Street to State Highway 310, and that will remain in effect until next Tuesday. Southbound traffic will be detoured from 16th Street via 310 to Columbus and then south to Memorial Drive.
