A Milwaukee police officer has been shot to death in an exchange of gunfire on the city’s north side. The shooting suspect wasn’t wounded, but he has been arrested. Officers were checking on a person wanted for gun and drug violations when they encountered the suspect and he opened fire. The 17-year department veteran became the second M-P-D officer to die in the line-of-duty this summer. His name hasn’t been released. One other person was wounded, but that person’s name and medical condition haven’t been released.
