The Manitowoc Public School District is the latest area system to receive a Safety Grant through the Wisconsin Department of Justice. Attorney General Brad Schimel announced yesterday that the MPSD is getting just over $227,000 dollars from the department’s School Safety Grant program. Local State Assemblyman Paul Tittl said in a statement, “Under the grants provided through this program, nearly one million children around the state will be safer. That’s good news not only for Manitowoc, but for the entire state.” The local grant announcement Was part of more than $4.9-million dollars in funding for 67 school districts. Last month, Valders and Hilbert school districts received awards totaling approximately $45,000 & $17,000, respectively. The attorney general says there are plans for a second round of school safety grants from the $45-million dollars of remaining available funding.
