The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office is waiting on the blood alcohol test results for the driver of a truck which slammed into a home on Goodwin Road in the town of Manitowoc Rapids early this morning. Authorities were called to the crash just before 1:00 AM, to find the front end of the truck slammed through the front of the home. According to a Crash Report given to us by Deputy Inspector Jason Orth, the 43 year old driver from Mishicot ran through a stop sign, entered the ditch, ran over a traffic sign, and the rammed into the home. The driver was transported to Holy Family Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries. The home received heavy damage, and was knocked off of its foundation. The owner of the home, Chad Hoerth, went to Facebook to thank all of the individuals that came to his aid, including the Sheriff’s Department, Fire Department, tow truck service, and cleanup crew, as well as those who have supported him over the past several hours. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor, but the results of the blood test have not been received as of now.
