More and more Wisconsin schools are receiving School Safety Grants, and the Sheboygan Area School District can now join that ever growing list. Their grant totaled $492,000, and will be used to increased two-way communication via handheld radios, add a shatter resistant film to the entryways, replace door locks with better ones, and install barricades and fencing around certain schools. On top of those physical improvements, the staff at all schools in the district will receive trauma informed care, and state safety training. This is just a part of a state wide effort to stop any future school attacks, by granting schools the resources necessary to be prepared for the worst.
