A 37- year-old Appleton man appeared in Manitowoc County Circuit Court this afternoon after allegedly stealing over $2000 worth of items from Walmart. John Raddatz is charged with felony retail theft and criminal damage to property. Police were called to the store yesterday afternoon to view video surveillance video of a suspect placing two items from the electronics section into a shopping cart placing them in a corner of the garden center. After leaving he moved his car, re-entered the store through a hole in a fence he created and put the items into his vehicle. Raddatz returned to the store about 2a.m. this morning where he was recognized by store employees and taken into custody. He’s free on a $200 recognizance bond with a condition that he have no contact with the Manitowoc Walmart store. An initial appearance is scheduled for August 6th at 2:30.
