A public meeting about the future of the resource officer program in Madison schools became heated Wednesday night. The Ad-Hoc committee holding the meeting was gathering input on how police officers should be incorporated. One parent said having officers on-site made her feel safer, but that wasn’t true for everyone. Another parent said the resource officers make students of color feel unsafe. She said the officers will do what they want to do — adding, “that is to kill black kids and harass black kids.”
