The Kiel Area School District has been selected to receive a grant from the Department of Justice, as they announced on July 9th. The grant totals just shy of $58,000, and is to be used for school safety. The school district said they will upgrade their doors, locks, and signage and will also be installing shatter resistant glass in the schools. The grant comes after a scary time for the district, when there was a shooting threat, which turned out to be nothing, but called for armed police to survey the school. The DOJ also announced on July 10th, that the New Holstein School District will also be receiving a school safety grant, totaling just shy of $60,000.
