A fruit crop specialist with the University of Wisconsin Extension says declines in the state’s 2017 cranberry and tart cherry harvest can be blamed on a spring frost. Amaya Atucha says the weather was at the heart of a 12 percent decline in cranberry production and a 17 percent decline in Wisconsin’s tart cherry production last year. Those two agricultural areas are bouncing back this growing season. Atucha says 49-million pounds of apples were produced in 2017 and that production is expected to keep going up this year.
