July, the peak month of summer, began with a bevy of activities in the city of Two Rivers. City Manager Greg Buckley said the recent visit by a 10-member delegation from the Czech Republic sister city of Domazlice made history come full-circle for them. Lieutenant Colonel Matt Konop, helped liberate western Czechoslovakia from the Nazi’s in World War II, in the homeland of ‘Matt’s’ grandparents.
Before returning to Europe the delegation gathered with Local officials to visit Konop’s gravesite at Forest View Holy Cross cemetery. Referring to the sister city relationship and the delegation’s first ever stop here, Buckley said ‘they were enriched by the experience.’ Two Rivers plans to send a delegation from the Cool City to Domazlice next May for ‘their’ Liberation day. Buckley also spoke about 2-major city events that were ‘very’ successful.
He says ‘Beach-Bash’ is coming up this weekend at Neshotah Beach.
