Governor Scott Walker was in Manitowoc yesterday to help congratulate Energy Bank on their new line of solar panels, called Fusion. This new technology cuts the middle man out of harnessing solar energy, allowing the power collected to go directly from the solar panel to the light source. During a demonstration, Energy Bank CEO Neal Verfuerth explained how energy bank improved lighting dating back to 2001.
He then plugged a light directly into a panel, and walked the panel outside, showing that there were no meters or transformers to pass through before the power was harnessed. Not only is the technology more energy efficient, it is also less expensive than traditional solar powered units. Governor Walker praised the dedication Verfuerth displayed in his quest to create this incredible ecological product.
We asked Mayor Justin Nickels if the combination of this announcement and all the companies moving to Manitowoc, is showing growth in the city.
As of now the system is only being made for use in factories and other commercial endeavors. Fusion even comes with an app which controls lights powered by the solar panels.
