Kewaunee County sheriff Matt Joski said in a news release yesterday their focus for a missing boater from July 4th has transitioned from initial rescue operations to that of recovery efforts. 38-year old Mark A. Wautelet disappeared that night after going fishing out of Kewaunee Harbor. The sheriff says the DNR will continue to conduct sub-surface sonar scanning when conditions allow and resources are available. Joski is asking that boaters be aware and report any suspicious objects they may observe in Lake Michigan waters. The victim was wearing a lime-green shirt with blue denim jeans, along with a red & white Wisconsin Badgers baseball cap and brown crocs footwear. Sheriff Joski closed by saying, “we appreciate all of the support & resources received thus far as well as those in the future to help bring closure to Mark Wautelet’s family in this tragic Incident.”
