The Wisconsin Supreme Court has ruled Marquette University breached its contract with a professor. The university says it will comply with the court’s order and reinstate professor John McAdams. He maintained his free speech rights were violated, but Marquette says the issue never was free speech. It says McAdams was dismissed for using his personal blog to mock a student teacher and intentionally expose her name and contact information “to a hostile audience.” The conservative professor criticized the student teacher because he felt she shut down discussion of opposition to gay marriage. She received hateful messages and threats and eventually transferred to another school.
