The La Crosse Chamber of Commerce worries that delays could push the 49-million dollar cost of expanding the city’s convention center even higher. Downtown business owners are being urged to put pressure on city council members to override the mayor’s veto. Mayor Tim Kabat said he is concerned about the encroachment on the city’s Riverside Park. The chamber’s executive director says La Crosse will continue losing conventions if an agreement isn’t reached. Vicki Markussen says every six months the construction is delayed will cost La Crosse one-million dollars.
