Red Arrow Park in Manitowoc is the home of a beautiful mural celebrating our nation’s veterans, and also several pieces of military history. The park will soon be home to a new piece of history, a World War I and World War II era M1917A4 155mm Howitzer cannon. The cannon currently sits in front of the Two Rivers Armory, and will be moved next month after Manitowoc Mayor Justin Nickels and President of Friends of Red Arrow Park, Ed Hansen signed an agreement with the U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Command. The new display will only be at the park until late fall, when it will be sent out for a complete restoration. It will then be brought back for permanent display in the spring if 2019. The Howitzer was in service during the two World Wars, and was used by the 32nd Infantry Division.
