G-E Distributed Power is closing down its engine plant in Waukesha by next summer. Formerly known as Waukesha Engine, the plant’s closure has been looming since 2015, with a plan in place to move production to Canada. Company officials say layoffs will start at the end of next month and continue until the end of April, with 236 jobs being permanently eliminated. General Electric announced the sale of G-E Distributed Power last week to Advent International for three-and-a-quarter billion dollars.
