Development in the Village of Random Lake has returned. This year several new home construction permits were issued after nearly a decade long new home construction drought. Several of the units were new spec condos which sold before being completed. “Random Lake is actively working to pick up the pace for economic growth at a time when Sheboygan County is booming,” stated Village President Matthew Brockmeier. “Our community cannot take growth for granted, and it is essential that we take an active role in enhancing living and economic prospects for our current and future residents and businesses.”
The Village, in coordination with local business, has begun planning for infrastructure upgrades, including possible enhancement of the wastewater treatment plant and other water and sewer improvements. “Our goal is to have a comprehensive overview of our public infrastructure so that we can respond intelligently and quickly as development opportunities arise, while also meeting needs with our existing facilities,” added Brockmeier. Under consideration are possible increases in water pumping and storage on the east side of the lake, near State Highway 57, to allow for additional industrial, commercial and residential development in key corridors. The Village has also updated its road maintenance plan as well as zoning codes to make them more development friendly.
“We as local business leaders must step up,” stated David Borchardt Chair of Advantage Random Lake a local community development group, “The future of our community is on us. We have jobs, capacity to grow and wonderful local leaders. Our community is at a turning point.”
The Village of Random Lake and Advantage Random Lake have maintained close ties with the Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation to provide expertise and best-practices to encourage development. “The Village is taking a dynamic approach. By working with those seeking to invest in our community we will be able to maintain and improve the quality of life our residents enjoy,” said Brockmeier.
