A Green Bay residence caught fire yesterday morning. The Green Bay Metro Fire Department responded to the call for the fire on the 800 block of Elizabeth Street on the City’s east side at around 6:15 AM. Upon arrival, heavy smoke and flames were seen emitting from a window on the front side of the home. Crews jumped into action, attacking the blaze from the outside, and finishing it off by entering the bedroom where the inferno began. It was determined that a child was playing with a lighter, when a mattress caught fire. The two adult residents, their four children, and the family dog are all reported to be safe, with no injuries being reported. The damage cost was estimated to be around $50,000.
