A western Wisconsin man will return to Maricopa County, Arizona, to face charges he killed his son 14 years ago. Fifty-one-year-old Jeffrey Martinson of La Crosse is accused of killing his five-year-old son by giving him a lethal dose of prescription drugs. Defense attorneys have suggested the child took the drugs himself and when Martinson tried to kill himself, it was because he was distraught. He was convicted on a first-degree murder charge in 2013, but the verdict was tossed out because of juror misconduct. Another try at convicting him was dismissed due to the prosecutorial misconduct.
