A 17-year-old St. Nazianz male is one of five injured in a single-vehicle crash early this morning near Kimberly. The Wisconsin State Patrol says about 6:30 a 28 year old Appleton man was driving a 2002 Ford Explorer in the northbound lanes on Interstate 41 at Ballard Road when he lost control and rolled into the ditch. All five individuals in the SUV were not wearing their seatbelts and were thrown from the vehicle. The driver was transported to Theda Clark Hospital in Neenah with what are termed as life threatening injuries. The 17-year-old St. Nazianz boy along with a 22 year old woman and 25 year old male from Neenah and a 40 year old woman from Larsen were transported to Theda Clark with “non-life” threatening injuries. Alcohol is believed to be a factor and the driver has been charged with suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence causing an injury and operating a motor vehicle after revocation—alcohol related. Northbound lanes of I-41 were closed for several hours. The names of those involved are being withheld pending notification of family and the accident remains under investigation by the State Patrol.
