A developer tells Appleton city officials his climate-controlled self-storage facility will also include space for retail. The city council gave its approval for the 12-building, 194-thousand-square-foot project Wednesday night. The special-use agreement affects the site of a former Kmart store which has been vacant for nearly 10 years. Self-storage experts say the space where people keep their stuff has tripled over the last 25 years. Owner Prime Storage hasn’t submitted a timetable for construction yet.
