Manitowoc Public Utilities is presently reviewing proposals from qualified vendors for AMI or Automated Meter Reading Infrastructure. Meter Services Manager Dan Salm says the secure two-way remote communication system will replace all electric meters in the city.
Salm adds AMI will provide proactive customer service.
MPU will be targeting water meters in a later phase of this transition. Requests for proposals were released to qualified vendors in late March with bid opening last month. Vendor proposal reviews are ongoing with a final recommendation expected in mid July.
