Wausau-based Riiser Fuels will retain its name, even though the chain of convenience stores has been sold to a North Carolina company. There are 34 R-Stores in Wisconsin. The sale closed Friday ending local ownership of the chain 73 years after it was founded. Terms of the deal haven’t been released. The new owner says the current 320 employees will keep their jobs. The investment group which made the purchase specializes in building regional chains of convenience stores. It says it plans to grow the chain with new locations in the Upper Midwest.
