Wisconsin is in a strange place right now. The state is experiencing historic lows in the unemployment rate, which is beginning to cause a workforce shortage. You can drive down any road in any city and see help wanted signs plastering the windows of most of the local businesses. During his visit to Manitowoc, Governor Scott Walker was asked by Seehafer News how the state is attempting to fix the problem.
Walker went on to describe some new ideas the state is trying as well.
The Governor made it very clear, however, that the focus is on Wisconsin Residents first, with the marketing in other states being an additional tool in the tool box.
Walker had a simple message for the businesses that are struggling to fill their open positions slots.
The Statewide unemployment rate sat at 2.9% in March, falling back to the rate it was in February, after a small jump to 3.1% in January.
