The Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s Northeast Region Office has announced that a chip seal operation will be taking place all week on US 151 in Manitowoc County. The area affected will begin at County Road A, 2.3 miles west of Valders, to Roosevelt Street in Valders. Single lane closures are expected, with crews utilizing flagging operations, but the Highway as a whole will remain open. Motorists are being advised to travel slowly through the work area for the safety of the workers, and also to ensure that you do not kick up any loose chips. According to WisDOT, chip seals consist of a layer of crushed stone placed on top of an application of liquid asphalt to reduce roadway deterioration and prolong the life of the pavement.
