****UPDATE: According to Whitelaw Village Clerk Chris Hill, as of 6:00 PM last night, the boil water notice for the Village has been lifted. The advisory was put in place over the weekend due to repairs being done on the water main. The advisory was actually lifted a day earlier than was previously predicted by Village Officials.
The Water Utility has issued a boil water notice for the residents of the Village of Whitelaw. In order to make some repairs, there is a planned loss of water pressure that was scheduled to begin this morning but may begin later this afternoon due to the weather. Water pressure should be restored sometime this evening. Volunteers placed notices on residents household doors to notify them of this situation. The boil water notice is expected to last until Monday.
A boil water notice is sent by a public water system to its customers when certain bacteria are found in the drinking water or in today’s case, if the water pressure is too low. In both of these situations?, drinking water may be unsafe.
A boil water notice lets people know that they need to take steps to protect themselves until?l the problem is fixed. Don’t use your tap water for drinking or food preparation.
Use safe, clean water until your public water system tells you that your tap water is safe to use.
Examples of safe water: commercially boiled water, water you boiled for one minute, water from a source that does not have a bacteria problem, and packaged ice from an approved source.
