Preparations have begun for the placing of a large sculpture along the shoreline between Manitowoc and Two Rivers. Hamann Construction Company is pouring concrete for the pad on which the “Spirit Of The Rivers” statues will be placed.
The sculpture is expected to be dedicated during the annual Ethnic Festival in Two Rivers on Saturday, September 15th. It is a product of Sculptor R. T. “Skip” Wallen, who was born in Manitowoc and currently lives in Alaska. The sculpture depicts three larger-than-life Native American figures, with one of them portaging a canoe.
The sculpture is being placed along the Mariners Trail, near the intersection of Memorial Drive and Woodland Drive, which is the boundary line between Manitowoc and Two Rivers.
