A former Portage County Jail inmate is filing a federal lawsuit, alleging conversations with his attorney were recorded and passed on to prosecutors. Thirty-seven-year-old Brett Lieberman filed the suit Tuesday. He claims his constitutional and civil rights were violated. He is suing the sheriff’s office and district attorney’s office while seeking class-action status for his legal action. Lieberman has been at Fox Lake Correctional Institution since his 2016 conviction on a reckless endangerment charge.
