The Roncalli Boys Tennis team improved its season record to 13-and-3…with a 7-nothing victory over Sheboygan Falls at Lincoln Park yesterday. The Jets took all 7-matches in straight-sets. They’ll host West DePere tomorrow afternoon.
At Fox Hills yesterday Sheboygan Falls captured the team title in an Eastern Wisconsin Conference Golf meet. The Falcons carded a 171, 5-strokes better than runnerup, Roncalli. Kiel finished 3rd and Two Rivers winds up 4th. Kiel’s Trace Woepse & the ‘Jets’ Ian Behringer again ended up one-two individually. Woepse had a 1-under par-35…Behringer shot a 1-over 37 On the front-9 of the National course. Bennett Braun of Valders was 5th with a 40, Zack Gordon of T-R tied for 8th at 44.
In Girls Soccer last night at Ron Rubick Municipal Field…Manitowoc Lincoln & Ashwaubenon battled to a 3-3 tie. Lina Zandonella tallied all 3-goals for the host Ships while Goalie Olivia Sauer had 5-saves. Lincoln travels to Notre Dame this afternoon.
In Girls Fastpitch Softball: Ashwaubenon swept a doubleheader from Lincoln at the Citizen Park Youth Sports Complex 8-nothing & 13-to-3. The Jaguars pitched a combined NO-HITTER in the opener.
In a battle of two title-contenders in the ‘Big East’ Conference: host Random Lake defeated Mishicot 6-4. Also, Manitowoc Lutheran…downed Oostburg…12-to-3. The visiting Lancers pounded-out 10 hits in support of winning pitcher Megan Schetter. Paige Zirbel went 2-for-3 with 3-RBI’s, Mikayla Riemer was also 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI..& Maddie Gorte added 2-hits to the cause. Emily DeMaster took the loss for the Lady Dutch.
In the Eastern Wisconsin Conference: Valders held-off Brillion 5-3..for the Vikings 13th win in 15-games. Jenna Evenson pitched a complete game for the victory over Courtney Hackbarth of the Lions. Kendra Hammel homered & Karly Erickson had 2-doubles to lead the offense. Maddie Sabel was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
In Boys Baseball….Denmark scored 2-runs in the top of the 6th inning and defeated Manitowoc Lincoln 6-4 at Municipal Field. Reese Piontek was the winning pitcher in relief for the Vikings..Alex Kahlenberg took the for the Ships. Will Maples went 2-for-3 with a 2-run single & Brayden Broecker reached-base 3-times with 2-hits and a walk. The Ships travel to Pulaski today.
And, in the E-W-C…Valders edged host Brillion 5-to-4 in 8-innings. The Vikings TIED-it on a wild-pitch with 2-down in the top of the 7th and then ‘plated’ the eventual game-winner on an RBI-single by Matt Meyers driving in Riley Hammel. Hammel earned the win in relief with 3-scoreless innings. Trevor Leist went 2-for-4 with a double and 2-runs scored Robert Shimek Delivered a ‘3-run’ double for the Lions.
