Manitowoc Activities & Athletic Director Dave Steavpack, at this morning’s ‘ceremonial’ Groundbreaking event for the Rubick Field Renovation Project on Manitowoc’s southside. Superintendent of Schools Mark Holzman said the effort has definitely been a community project and will “provide (our) students with a first class facility that our kids deserve.”
The ‘crown jewel’ of the renovation is the application of an astro-turf field to replace the natural grass field, which has taken a beating over the years. Volunteers, major business & industry donors were on hand to mark the occasion. Rettler Corporation of Stevens Point is in charge of construction and 2012 Lincoln High School alum, UW-Platteville grad and Rettler engineer Tanner Dixon will be on-site supervising the project on a daily basis.
Ships varsity Coach Rick Ducat reflected on what’s about-to-become a reality.
The work WILL be completed in time for the High School Football & Boys Soccer season.
Fundraising resulted in donations of just over $800-thousand dollars. School officials are still trying to finalize additional funding to provide a concrete walkway in front of the bleachers around The entire field.
