Madison firefighters used ladders to rescue two people from an apartment roof at about midnight Tuesday. Emergency responders were called to the eight-unit residential location. Three of the five people who live there were able to get out, but heat and heavy smoke trapped two upstairs. Automatic sprinklers helped confine the fire to one room. Although no one required medical assistance, the people living at the Porchlight-Madison building weren’t able to return to their homes.
