The Municipal Tree Commission of the City of Manitowoc will be meeting at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum this afternoon. At the 2:15 PM meeting, there will be time set aside for the public to voice their input on anything related to trees in the city. On top of old business like looking at the report on tree maintenance since the last meeting, and an update on the forestry fund, the commission will look at an update eon Emerald Ash Borer infected trees. Adult EAB beetles don’t do a whole lot of damage, but the larvae feed on the inner bark of ash trees, disrupting the tree’s ability to transport water and nutrients. These exotic beetles are responsible for the death of hundreds of millions of trees across North America.
