Bail is set at $750 recognizance bond for a 28 year old Manitowoc man who was taken into custody early yesterday morning for causing a disturbance at his mother’s home. Edwin Guzman-Galarza is charged with Disorderly Conduct-Domestic Violence. This was the fourth run in police had with Guzman-Galarza in a 24 hour period. Officers responded to a call made by his mother at around 1:00 AM to a residence in the 2000 block of Hamilton Street. She told police that he was banging on her door, cursing at her, and attempting to force his way into the home. Police entered the residence with guns drawn after learning that he may have a sword. Guzman-Galarza was found upstairs and after a bit of resistance, was placed in handcuffs and taken into custody. The first incident took place at around 1:45 AM the Wednesday morning in the 1000 block of South 18th Street. He was causing a disturbance and officers warned him to quiet down. A little after 9:00 PM Wednesday evening, officers responded to a car wash on Calumet Ave for a male causing a disturbance and using vulgar language. The third incident took place at a gas station in the 1800 block of Washington Street at around 12:15 yesterday morning. Guzman-Galarza allegedly fled after what was described as a man swinging a belt around and yelling at customers. No charges have been filed in those incidents. Conditions of bail are that he have no contact with his mother, and must maintain absolute sobriety. An initial appearance is scheduled for May 14th at 1:30 PM.
