A 17-year-old Manitowoc male is facing two separate sets of charges on suspicion of stealing a running vehicle from a gas station early this morning. City charges against Christopher M. Hauschultz are fleeing and eluding an officer, operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent and possession of drug paraphernalia. County infractions are eluding and fleeing an officer and recklessly endangering safety. According to Manitowoc Police the suspect took the car that was running from a gas station on North Eighth street about 2 a.m. Officers located it traveling on Menasha Avenue and followed him heading westbound on Waldo. The suspect ignored the officer’s activated squad lights exceeding speeds of more than 60 miles-per-hour eventually crashing in the area of 15th and Wollmer streets. A short time later a K-9 officer located Hauschultz hiding under cardboard at a nearby garage. Combined bail was set at $2500 cash with conditions including that he possess no controlled substance or drug paraphernalia and report to MPD and the Sheriff’s for photos and prints.He remains in the County Jail with initial appearances in both matters scheduled for Monday afternoon at 2:30.
