High School Sports combined with a cold, snowy spring do not mix.
That’s Manitowoc Public School District Director of Activities & Athletics, Dave Steavpack as he echoes a “common response of prep sports schedulers” in the midst of a terrible Spring, capped-off, of course, by last weekend’s heavy snowfall. Steavpack, for an example, referred to the baseball team only playing twice so far.
The Ships A-D said their number-1 goal is giving young athletes the best opportunity possible to create positive memories.
Steavpack said FRCC athletic directors met on Tuesday to determine a plan to maintain the ‘conference’ championship status of their season.
In addition, he says the district’s custodial staff has cleared the track surface at Ron Rubick Municipal Field in anticipation of a track & field meet next Tuesday. As for the weather woes afflicting high school athletics Steavpack explains, “Everybody’s in the same boat and we can’t do anything about it.”
