Some cows were killed and milking operations interrupted when the heavy, wet snow falling in northeastern Wisconsin caused several barn roofs to collapse. About 11-hundred cows did manage to get out safely when a huge barn at Pagel’s Pondera Dairy gave way. Snow drifts as deep as 10 feet were formed next to some barns, slowing the efforts to remove the snow. Unconfirmed reports indicate a farm near Bear Creek lost 125 cows in a storm-related collapse of a barn roof.
