Flynn Restaurant Group is suing the city of Madison for denying its application for a liquor license. It says the decision was arbitrary because a similar license has since been approved for a restaurant on the other side of State Street. Taco Bell Cantina opened at the location in December. The Madison Alcohol License Review Committee and the Madison Common Council approved the license application, but Mayor Paul Soglin vetoed the approval. The Common Council upheld his veto in January. Soglin said he was worried about late-night, alcohol-fueled violence in the area.
