The big conversation around the nation right now revolves around guns, and active shooters in schools. Yesterday, students around the country walked out of class to protest for 17 minutes, one for every student killed in the Parkland Florida shooting. Police Departments, including Manitowoc, have been doing additional training to ensure their force is prepared if another shooting were to happen again. Police Cheif Nick Reimer explains what they have been doing to prepare.
This was a vastly coordinated event, with many county entities on hand.
The two major priorities of the officials entering the building are speed and safety.
The MPD is of course dedicated to keeping the public safe, which includes the children in school. They are working hand in hand with the area schools to ensure they have the proper training sand tools to stop an active shooter in the quickest and safest manner possible.
