The Roncalli High School Boys Basketball team ‘made history’ in Madison yesterday. Damon Ryan has more….
For the first time in school history….Roncalli has won a State boys basketball title…rallying in the 2nd half to beat Marathon….53-37 in the WIAA Division-4 finale at the Kohl Center. The Jets trailed 17-14 at halftime..but outscored the Red Raiders 39-20 in the 2nd half for the impressive win.
Chombi Lambert who poured in 32 in the semifinal win over Pardeeville Thursday…led his team again with 21-points. Mitchel Schneider was held scoreless in the first half…but finished with 18 points to go along with 8-rebounds. With the Jets in control in the final minutes..Josh Koss talked about what they were about to accomplish on a big stage.
The Jets finish as state champs with a mark of 23-&-5 and become the lakeshore’s 1st State Boys Basketball winners since Manitowoc Lincoln did it 50-years ago, in 1968.
