Two men were seriously injured about 8:15 this morning when their truck went out of control on I-43, near Cleveland and landed on Westview Road below. Manitowoc County sheriff’s department Deputy Inspector Jason Orth said the preliminary investigation shows the driver of the southbound vehicle lost control and proceeded through the median…crossing both ‘northbound’ lanes of the Interstate. The truck collided with a concrete barrier for the Westview Road overpass, traveled over the barrier and landed in the ditch…coming to rest on its’ passenger side. The driver was ‘ejected’ from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. He was initially transported by ambulance to St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan…and then flown by Theda Star to Theda Clark Regional Medical Center in Neenah. A passenger was taken by ambulance to Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers for treatment of serious injuries. Names, ages and hometowns of the injured have not been- released yet…and the crash remains under investigation by the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s office. Orth said Cleveland Fire and First responders…along with 2-city of Manitowoc ambulance crews assisted at the scene of this morning’s crash.
