Three weeks after the U-S Department of Housing and Urban Development issued a stop work order, local contractors involved in Milwaukee’s lead abatement program are asking some questions. Several met with officials of the Milwaukee Health Department Tuesday. The work stoppage has put their businesses at risk. Idled employees are beginning to look for work elsewhere. They say Tuesday’s meeting was a big step forward because lines of communication are open. The Health Department has new leadership moving forward.
