This year’s WIAA State Summer Baseball Tournament will be the last. The WIAA board of control voted to discontinue it after multiple Milwaukee area teams favored a move to spring ball next year. The summer season has slowly seen defection of multiple teams in recent years including Roncalli and Two Rivers. EWC schools Kiel, New Holstein and Sheboygan Falls currently play summer baseball with Kiel coming off their first state appearance since 1968 and New Holstein making multiple state tournament trips in its history. Kapco Park in Mequon will host the final eight-team state tournament in late July.
