Fort Atkinson Police give three guests credit for saving the life of a Villa Inn Motel employee when she was attacked. The incident happened Saturday at about 4:00 P-M. Investigators say a customer called the front desk saying the coffee machine in his room was broken. A female employee responded, only to be dragged into the room by her hair and stabbed. When two women and a man heard the attack, they kicked in the door and helped the victim escape. The 50-year-old suspect from Whitewater engaged a SWAT team in a four-hour standoff before he was taken into custody. He was in a Madison hospital Tuesday being treated for self-inflicted stab wounds. Fort Atkinson Police say they are checking reports that the suspects had harassed workers at other motels.
