A 14-month internal investigation into harassment and bullying draws a critical response from Green Bay Police Chief Andrew Smith. He says the actions of nine officers were “disgusting.”
The investigation started in 2016, after it was reported that a patrol officer was abusing his sick leave. This led to an larger investigation.
Smith says the racial incidents hurt all law enforcement agencies. Three of the officers resigned during the investigation. The six officers still on the force were handed un-paid suspensions lasting between 1 and 30 days.
The report details a group of officers on the night shift who harassed a female officer, and used racial slurs toward black officers and black people. This is among other incidents reported.
