A Manitowoc woman walked into the Manitowoc Police Department last week Thursday, to report her boyfriend had physically abused her earlier in the day. When the officer met her at the front counter, he noticed she had suffered several injuries. She told police that she and her boyfriend, Justin LeClair had been arguing as of late, and on that day, the fighting escalated. She told police that she was at LeClair’s home to look for her Social Security card, when they began to argue. He then allegedly grabbed her phone and told her she could not leave. LeClair became more agitated, and began to punch her in the head, chest and arms with a closed fist. The woman tried to defend herself, but LeClair was able to get behind her, and wrap his arms around her neck. He began to choke her, and let go just before she passed out. He then smashed her phone on the ground, when she told him she was going to call the police. He forced her into a vehicle, and continued to hit her while in the vehicle. He eventually stopped at a friend’s home, who brought the woman to the police station. LeClair was arrested on charges of battery, intimidation of a victim, strangulation, criminal damage to property, and false imprisonment.
