Following the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, and several threats of school shootings around the country, security and safety at schools is a topic on everybody’s mind. Manitowoc Public School District Superintendent Mark Holzman told us that the district didn’t make any drastic changes right after the shooting, but that is because safety is always a top priority.
Holzman went on to explain how the school district is preventing events like this from happening to our schools.
While some schools have resorted to putting metal detectors at all the entrances to the building, Holzman explains why that is not happening here.
Holzman also voiced his condolences for the victims of the Parkland shooting and their families.
