Onalaska’s mayor and two city council members are calling for a part-time judge to step down. They say Coulee Regional Municipal Court Judge John Brinckman is not running his office properly. An audit of his court revealed dozens of boxes filled with citations which haven’t been processed. If Brinckman fails to resign, Onalaska officials say their city will leave the Coulee Region Joint Municipal Court system at the end of this year. The judge has said he won’t step aside. He says tracking the citations isn’t his job and he shouldn’t be held accountable when the clerk of courts didn’t take care of them.
